Boiler Operator

Summary

Assists Stationary Engineer in operation and maintenance of stationary steam boilers and auxiliary steam equipment such as pumps, compressors, and air conditioning system by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Requires skilled operator with safety in mind at all times.
  • Knowledge of a waste heat boiler helpful.
  • Must operate a vacuum system with pneumatic valves.
  • Ability to work with dry feeder blowers, augers, and bag houses.
  • Ability to read instruments and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to understand and follow moderately complex instructions.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and lift 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work with analytical emission equipment NOX/SO2/CO ECT.
  • Requires observing water level pressure and controls.
  • Monitor cooling tower daily for biological and corrosion.
  • Water testing boiler to check and maintain chemistry, require you to deal with chlorine acid polymer sulfite.
  • Must be able to work on chemical pumps.
  • Work with condensate pumper drums, steam traps and heat exchangers.
  • Work with process on trouble shooting.
  • Check softener polishers and iron filters several times a day for proper operation.
  • Keep proper logs.
  • Starts auxiliary equipment.
  • Opens valves and adjusts regulators to control flow of steam or water through pipe lines, or to blow sludge and scale from pressure system.
  • Cleans and lubricate pumps.
  • Dusts tubes, and removes slag from furnace tubes and brickwork of coal fired boiler.
  • Opens drains and washes boilers.
  • Performs maintenance tasks such as packing valves, repairing pipe lines, and replacing gauge glasses.
  • Regulates volume of water in boilers and in auxiliary equipment.
  • Cleans work area and equipment.
  • Follows Corn Plus safety procedures and environmental compliance reporting guidelines.

Maintenance Technician

Summary

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • Follows Corn Plus safety procedures and environmental compliance reporting guidelines.

 

 

Summary

Conducts chemical and physical laboratory tests of solid materials, liquids, and gases, and analyzes test data by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Responsible for fermentation performance and yield performance
    • Identify trends
    • Implement corrective action
    • Problem solve/trouble shoot issues
    • Assemble statistical data on the performance of the plant
    • Report findings to senior management
  • Gather and prepare samples for HPLC analysis.
  • Analyze other components in samples.
  • Prepare and complete yeast counts.
  • Oversee the analysis of the ethanol produced (Certificate of Analysis).
  • Assist in managing the tank farm.
  • Complete a daily plant profile.
  • Monitor trends in fermentation.
  • Provide other departments with necessary data.
  • Clean and maintain the laboratory equipment and area.
  • Perform HPLC and IC service and maintenance.
  • Place orders for laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Meet with vendors, potential vendors, and other interested in the technologies of Corn Plus.
  • Prepare the laboratory for plant tours and cleanup.
  • Conduct bench top trials and oversee plant trials.
  • Manage tank farm COA samples.
  • Calculate end of month corn in process.
  • General research of new ideas, chemicals, etc.
  • Gather data and samples for internal/external sources including packaging and shipping if required.
  • General laboratory maintenance and cleaning.
  • Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research, or process control.
  • Tests and analyzes materials and substances such as ores, minerals, gases, soil, water, and pollutant.
  • Prepares chemical solutions for use in processing materials, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
  • Tests and analyzes radioactive and biological materials.
  • Follows Corn Plus safety procedures and environmental compliance reporting guidelines and teaches best practices to other employees.
